Presented in Honolulu, Waikiki nei (translated as Waikiki now) features dancers, actors, acrobats, musicians and aerial artists performing on a state-of-the-art rotating stage with 100-foot projections, cutting-edge lighting, sound, stage machinery and automation designed to put the spectator right in the middle of the performance.
In order to ensure that Waikiki nei is valid Hawaiian experience the Réalisations.net artistic team used the same methods as they did for the creation of ‘Ulalena. Advice was sought from local historians, sociologists and anthropologists, language coaches were consulted and traditional musicians hired in preparing the production. |
Careful consideration was paid in hiring the cast and rehearsal time was used to familiarize non-Hawaiian members with Hawaiian customs and traditions. The concept of the theatre is multi-functional and innovative. With a ceiling height of over 60 feet and more than 22,000 square feet of floor space, the interior is spacious yet also provides an intimate experience for the public.
After the show the theatre seating retracts, converting the space into an upscale nightclub with a 4,500 square foot dance floor. The lobby features an "ultra lounge" with interactive tables designed by Réalisations.net, special drinks and dramatic lighting.
